We have shared our log home for 11.5 years with friends and family from all over; most of whom want to come back and visit. Our house provides for easy entertaining.
The biggest surprise for us city folks from the Midwest was to find a warm, generous, and fun-loving community that cares very much for each other. The residents that have homes here, whether full-time or second homers, along with other neighbors in close proximity, get together on a regular basis.
We are minutes away from one of the most beautiful spots in North Carolina, Lake Lure. Quiet abounds here and if more action is desired, there is plenty to do in the town of Black Mountain or in Asheville. We feel connected to both places within a short distance; serene beauty can be interchanged for more excitement. It took only 40 minutes to get to the Asheville Symphony on a Saturday night, and we cannot forget the beautiful Donald Ross golf course right here in Black Mountain!
The occasional wildlife sighting has added an element of fun for us; such as the hawk who landed on our fence post, the 36 turkeys walking down our road, the mother doe and her fawn taking a morning stroll, a bobcat moseying through the yard, and the occasional bear trying to get in the grill wanting to share our burgers. Wouldn't you like to experience that?
